Kidney stones strike around 20 percent of people, mostly men and this is one of the most painful conditions in medicine at all.
Kidney stones usually consist of salt called calcium oxalate. This means that if your urine consists of more oxalate
and calcium you are more predisposed to kidney stones.

The logical thought is that you should eat foods containing less calcium. The reason is simple – if you lower your calcium intake your body will start producing more calcitriol and this automatically increases the amount of calcium retaining in your body. The result is that more calcium is deposited in your urine and the problem become bigger.
One of the most common reasons for developing of kidney stones is the fact that you do not drink enough fluids. This means more water, less caffeine drinks which increase levels of calcium in urine. Another fluid to avoid is alcohol because it dehydrates the body.
Another way to decrease the risk of formatting kidney stones is to avoid oxalate containing foods. Such foods are chocolate, spinach, nuts, especially peanuts, carob etc.

Fibers are also important part of your food regime in order to avoid kidney stones – help to reduce amount of calcium exerted through urine. Purine-rich foods are good, because they maintain low uric-acid level. Proper foods are fish roe, anchovies and offal.
Animal proteins – meat, fish, eggs, chicken make the urine more acidic, so you should try to avoid them. Of course it neither is nor recommended to avoid them at all but to minimize their consummation.
Sometimes reasons for kidney stones are inherited so it is not always possible to avoid them but proper eating can lessen the possibility of kidney stones.
