They are formed when there is no complete dissolution of the waste materials in the urine. Often, over time, these miniature particles turn into stones. Sometimes stones pass out of the kidneys easily, but there is a possibility of complications. If the stones are too big they may stuck in the ureter. That can block the flow of urine and cause very strong pain. In this case medical help is needed.
There are four major types of kidney stones:
Calcium stone – This is the most common type. Normally, calcium that is not necessary for the bones and muscles goes to the kidneys and from there urine flush it out. But some people’s organisms don’t get rid of the unnecessary calcium, so it forms kidney stones.
Uric acid stone – It forms when there is too much acid in the urine. The emerging of uric acid stones is often caused by hereditary reasons.
Struvite stone – It generally forms because of infection in the urinary system. Strutive stone contains magnesium and ammonia.
Cystine stone – This type is rare and the main reason for its appearance are the genes of the person. Cystine is element which takes part in building the muscles and the nerves but sometimes it can build up in the urine and form kidney stones.
