The term “early menopause” is used mostly for cases in which menopause occurs before the age of 40 years.

Menopause marks the end of the reproductive capacity of women. This is a natural phenomenon and usually occurs between 45 and 55 years of age.

Menopause, especially early menopause is undoubtedly embarrassing condition that can affect health and our lives in many ways. Woman’s body goes through many changes during menopause. The ovaries begin to secrete fewer hormones and stop producing eggs. These changes naturally contribute to the development of several physical and emotional symptoms.

Following five are most common in women who undergo early menopause:

1. Changes in menstrual cycle

Irregular menstruation is one of the most common symptoms of early menopause. Due to reduced ovulation and changing levels of hormones, many women with menstrual cycle becomes irregular or even coming in some months, while not completely stop the attainment of full menopause. The cycle may be more abundant or less, and the interval between two menstrual and may become shorter and longer.

2. Infertility

As already pointed out, menopause is the end of reproductive life of women and, unfortunately, even in early menopause is no longer possible to conceive a child.

3. Vaginal changes

Vaginal dryness and vaginal atrophy are also among the five symptoms of early menopause. They are due to reduced production of estrogen in the body.

4. Hot flashes and night sweats

This is another common symptom of early menopause. As the name suggests, these are sensations of heat that occur spontaneously and are usually most intense in the chest, neck and face. The frequency of hot flashes can vary from several times a week to several times each day. There are various medicines and herbs that can help to control hot flashes. Some women experience night sweats and that impede their healthy sleep.

5. Headache and emotional problems

Headache is very common among women who experience early menopause. Woman may experience a number of emotional symptoms such as anxiety, sudden mood changes, irritability, low self-esteem, depression and blurred mind.
