Diabetes type 2 may be controlled with proper eating and avoiding some foods.
To properly treat your diabetes, it is necessary to follow these simple rules. They will help you improve your health, reduce blood sugar and avoid complications of diabetes.
Your daily food intake should be divided into 3 meals and 2 snacks. This mode will reduce hunger and increase your blood sugar after meals.
Free to eat vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, spinach, lettuces, onions, carrots, etc.), tea, coffee, tomato juice, drinks with artificial sweeteners (saccharin, nutrasuit). These foods contain little or no calories. In addition, vegetables are rich in fiber and provide necessary vitamins.
Reduce by half the consumption of bread, potatoes, rice, cereals, pasta, legumes and fruits. Try to reduce the consumption of lean meats and fish, milk and dairy products (eg cheese).
If you need to lose weight you should avoid fats (butter, olive oil, sausages, cheese, processed cheese, fatty meats and fish, canned meats and fish fries, sauces, nuts) and alcohol (whiskey, liqueurs, wine and beer).
You should not take sugar and sweets such as chocolate, sweets, honey, candy, cola and other soft drinks with sugar. Even so-called natural juices contain sugar, if not add it from the fruit itself.
Be careful with food “for diabetics” containing fructose and sorbitol, which are “hidden” sugars. Sometimes these foods are high in fat.
Reduce salt intake, especially if you have high blood pressure.
You can use different spices to give flavor to food.
Here we give some basic guidelines. Diet in type 2 diabetes will be fully explained by your treating endocrinologist. There are many guides and books that will offer comprehensive information.
