Have you ever noticed that people who work at a certain jobs most frequently suffer from obesity? First in the “black list” are chefs and confectioners. While the first profession is normal to predispose to obesity, the second one will shock you – accountants. At least this is the “black list” published by British nutritionists in The Independent.
According to the scientist the reasons for this are several:
First, the work of the accountant as quite stressful – any mistake could be decisive for the outcome, and the periods for reports and audits are particularly stressful.
Second, these jobs require a combination of clear and quick mind, without showing and involving any emotion. And the brain needs constant supplies of energy. And the food for the brain is mainly glucose.
So experts advise to regularly eat foods like oatmeal, granola, tea without sugar or with very little milk. But usually in such situations people eat mainly croissants, waffles, chocolate and candy.
Third, professions that predispose to obesity are not usually among the most desired ones. People usually work them because they need to work something or the circumstances just made them to. This inevitably leads to the feeling of anxiety and boredom. This, on the other side, makes the body to crave for sweet, in order to fight the bad feelings.
And fourth, many of these occupations are associated with sedentary lifestyle. And with less acting life fats are not broken down, and as already has been discovered – it also leads to increased appetite. So we eat more and don’t burn half of the calories we have consumed.
Other, particularly dangerous for our body jobs, according to the British dietitians are: librarians, bank employees, vendors, editors, policemen, teachers, system and business administrators.
