Lisa Doherty has the chronic hiccups for five years
We all know how annoying hiccups can be. But can you imagine suffering from them for more than five years and every day to hiccup at least 100 times.
The 24 year old Lisa Doherty knows very well the feeling of the constant hiccupping. She started doing it since the beginning of 2008 and until today she cannot stop, report from Dailymail. Her illness started for the first time while she was pregnant with her still unborn girl, Emily. When Lisa visited doctors for her hiccups they told her that it is normal for pregnant woman so there was nothing to be worried about. So she didn’t. Then she gave birth and even got pregnant again but the hiccups did not stop.
So she started doing every possible remedy she knows. Unfortunately nothing helped
“I started hiccuping when I was around four months pregnant with Emily. I went to the doctor and I was told it was a part of pregnancy and a hiccup could be a way of getting air to your baby quickly. So I thought nothing of it, until three months after having Emily I still had hiccups. It is not usually fits of hiccups but just one very loud hiccup every hour. At worst I have had up to 100 hiccups a day, I have even started hiccuping in my sleep occasionally.
I can hiccup really loud, so it can be a bit embarrassing, some people say I sound like a dinosaur”, says Lisa, quote from Dailymail.
Although she tried almost everything and nothing helped Lisa does not stop trying. She says that her boyfriend Matthew still jumps on her from time to time and tries to scare her with the hope that the hiccups will finally stop.
