Premature labor is pathological condition which happens with about 8% of all pregnancies. Premature labor is responsible for about 75% of stillbirths and deaths of babies in the first 7 days of life.
Normal pregnancy lasts from 37 to 42 weeks.
Birth before 37 weeks is considered premature and prematurely born child.
Premature birth is spoken after 28 weeks, and the interruption of pregnancy (not to mention mechanical abortion) between conception and 28 weeks is called spontaneous abortion or miscarriage.
How does premature birth begin?
Like normal one. The woman may feel pulling pain in the abdomen and waist. Pain is sometimes like contraction. In rare cases, birth begins with leakage of amniotic fluid. As this happen you should immediately go to hospital.
Why does premature labor happen?
First place takes infection. Normally the uterus is sterile, but any inflammatory process makes it inferior walls, so the pregnancy continued until then as the walls of the uterus can stretch and then the body tries to get rid of the fetus.

Do you always have to stop the ongoing birth?
No. There are situations where labor is induced. In severe toxicity, chronic diseases of internal organs, doctors induce labor to save the lives of mother and fetus.
Postnatal period for premature birth
Postpartum period in premature birth is in no way different from the normal birth. Sometimes the woman remains longer in the maternity hospital; in most cases the condition of the child is worse than the condition of the mother.

What happens to children after premature birth?
It is possible the child should live, if the birth is over 1 pound, but unfortunately only 50% of these children alive.
